What's Buggin'
Most of us have been up close and personal with this insect. Aphids eat the sap out of plants. They create decreased growth , yellowing, curled leaves, low yields and in some cases death. They can also pass on plant viruses.
Some ants like the secretion of the aphid. If you have ants climbing into your trees or shrubs that is a good indicaiton that you have an aphid problem. The healthier your plant is the less likely that your plant is going to attract aphids.
We carry all kinds of ways to get rid of these pains. You can use insecticidal soap, eight, and dormant spray.
Petal Pushing
We are still living the dream. This weather has been very kind to all of us. Pots are nice because you can bring them into the house or the garage if it freezes.
When potting up your pots it is nice to give your pots to another dimension. We have a couple of different plants that will take your pots to the next level.
The first plant is Million Bells. Million Bells (calibrachoa)are annuals that trails off of your pot and give a point of interest. Million Bells bloom all summer and no cleaning neccessary. They range in bright colors to soft pastels from pink, yellow, orange and purple. They are sometimes called mini petunias. They are a must for any pot.
The next plant is Bacopa. Bacopa have very little flowers that are usually white but you will also see then in light pink and lavender. They also trail and don't need much cleaning. They grow in the sun or shade. These two plants are just a few of our great selection of basket stuffers.

Back To Basics
Time for the organic part of the newsletter. We are proud to say that we have been carrying Yum Yum for two seasons now. The funny thing is that we found out that people have been ordering it online for years. We have been pleased to hear how good this organic fertilizer works.
The way that Yum Yum works is that it feeds the soil, which in turn feeds the plant. The result a healthier plant with better yeilds. This is a great all purpose fertilizer. It is time use Yum Yum and make your soil yummy.
Water Wise
We are seeing some great weather this spring. That means that you need to be out there watering. There are things that you can be doing to help keep your watering down. Mulching is the best and easiest way to cut down on your watering. You can use rock, bark, compost, and pine needles. There are many ways to mulch, it will help your plants, supress weeds and you will save some water.
We are all starting to pot up our pots and boy do they need water and care. If you have not used it before we have a product called soil moist that can cut your watering in half. It is a polymer that you mix in your soil that absorbs the water so water lasts longer in your soil.
What To Do
Now is the time to inspect your sprinkler system for anything that may not be working. You also need to be inspecting your plants for insects. Spring is the time for the return of your plants and for bugs.
If you havn't yet, it is time to get the garden ready. We have really great soils, fertilizers and amendments.
You should also be making plans for your summer projects. You need to remember to keep them small enough so that you don't get discouraged. It is a long summer, you have time.
